Untitled
Oh-sweet innocence! How I covet you,
And dream of my own long since passed,
When fireflies and candy were the talk of the town,
How I envy the past...
Those long summer nights,
And Saturday morning delights...
When mama would make her seet banana bread,
Only that traveling aroma could get me out of bed...
Now the days more abrupt,
Not much time for me,
To stop and savor anything,
Except a clock I obey faithfully...
Lost now in coffee, instead of grass,
Commanded attention at meetings instead of class...
How I thought the world was on my shoulders,
How reality confirms it as you grow older...
